On August 7th (Sunday), I will be holding an NRA Basic Pistol class. This course is for anyone who wants to learn more about firearms, ammunition, and marksmanship. If you don’t have any experience with a handgun, I recommend that you take this course before you take the CHL course. Or, if the schedule doesn’t work out in August, you can take the CHL course first, and defer the CHL range test until you take the NRA Basic Pistol course. Students who take my NRA class always (at least, so far) pass the CHL range test on the first try, usually with a very high score.
My next CHL course will be on August 13th (Saturday). This is the state-mandated 10-hour course that mainly covers the laws governing carry of a concealed handgun, and includes a range test to make sure you can actually handle your handgun.
Both the NRA and CHL courses include a light lunch (sandwiches & chips). I have found this to be a major convenience to the students, especially for the CHL course. That way, the students can eat lunch while I continue the class, and we don’t have spend an extra hour getting done.
Students taking both courses, and doing the range test on the same day as the NRA course, will get a $20 discount on the total of the course fees.
