Open Carry Inches Towards Acceptance

Open CarryAs reported in the Dallas Morning News, Open Carry has been approved by the Texas Senate. The new measure, if passed by the House and signed by the governor (who has already indicated that if it gets to his desk, he will sign it), will allow CHL holders to carry openly.

As I have written previously, I’m ok with Open Carry, but I don’t plan to carry openly myself.

I’m still hoping for campus carry. Liberals have been pulling out all the stops in a disinformation campaign to stop that one. The latest claim is that it will cost several millions of dollars — which is pure BS, but dutifully covered in the lamestream Liberal press.

When reading Liberal disinformation, consider the following:

  1. CHL holders are a tiny minority of college students. As long as the age requirement is 21, that will continue to be the case.
  2. CHL holder commit fewer crimes than licensed law enforcement officers. And police are allowed to carry openly on a school campus. As far as I can tell, that has not resulted in any special expenses for school campuses.
  3. Nothing inhibits violent crime as effectively as the possibility that your intended victim (or some random bystander coming to his/her defense) might be capable of killing you. Not “no guns” signs (in fact, criminals find “no guns” signs to be an indication that they are more likely to get away with a violent crime). Not the possibility of prison. Nothing.
