NRA Basic Pistol Course Description

This course includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, two handed standing positions, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. Successful completion of the NRA Basic Pistol course will prepare the student to easily pass the CHL range test with a high score on the first try, and students may take the CHL range test on the same day (and get a discount on the CHL course). This course requires about 8 hours to complete. Enrollment limit for the NRA Basic Pistol Course is 10 students, due to the intensive, hands-on nature of the course.
